1938-39 Issue

Italian East Africa was a former Italian possession made up of Eritrea (Italian colony since 1890), Ethiopia (invaded by Italy from Eritrea in 1935 and annexed in 1936) and Italian Somaliland (under Italian influence since 1889). Founded in 1936, it lasted until British-led colonial forces came into each of the areas in 1941.

 

Note: This issue circulated in all the Italian occupied areas and colonies in Africa.
